Visited the Byre at lunchtime today. Only two people in the bar/restaurant. Sat down at a table but the two staff behind the bar were too busy chatting to notice our arrival so we left. No body bothered to approach us. Tables are tired. Won't be back.

Never been a great fan of the Byre as I feel it lacks atmosphere and food was always below par but saw that it had a new chef so decided to give it another try. I\'d love to say that there had been a big improvement but unfortunately this is not the case. We went in at 7.30pm on a thursday evening and I ordered lasagne and chips and my friends ordered pasta. When the meals came, the two pasta dishes were wrong and my chips looked like they\'d been sitting all day and repeatedly reheated. There are more places to choose from in East Kilbride so I won\'t be back to the Byre. OK for a drink but not for a meal.

having been delighted last year with our christmas day meal we did not hesitate to rebook this year. what a mistake that was. our table was booked for 6 pm for 15 people. we were finally seated at 6.45 and then had to wait till about 7.30pm for the 1st course. several times the staff brought the wrong orders and our group become very dismayed with the whole situation. The time between each course became longer, my son had to wait even longer for his main course as it had been overlooked by the kitchen staff. mince pies were also supposed to be served with the tea/coffee after asking several times we gave up. we were told that it was under new management.well i think they need to rethink there work ethics and aim more to please the cutomer.

The Byre is lovey inside with a nice atmosphere and fab play area. The food in the Bothy is a bit pricey. Having also ate in the bar, the food wasn\'t up to much. My salad was dripping in oil - yuk and my toddlers \'fish goujons\' was a huge deep fried fillet and very greasy and each of us at our table received something slightly different to what we had ordered!
Service not great either.

the first time we were in the byre was about a year ago. The food was awful. We decided this weekend to try it again. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food we ordered looked good, scampie and beer battered fish. We didn't feel too good after finishing our meal and later on I was very sick my husband still felt ill the next morning. I think the byre is a nice place to have a drink but not for food. We wont be back.

i have just left the Byre, I popped in to watch the last 5 minutes of a celtic v Hibs game. I mentioned to the bar man the mcgeady had been sent of, his reply \' good enough for him, I hate him, he\'s a pr**k and all scotland fans do alsoas he chose the Republic of Ireland over Scotland\' What sort of attitude is that to have when serving the general public. I dont belive the management would like their premises to be viewed as a sectarian establisment, which on this occasion, it has been !!! Absolutely disgusted !!

Ate at the byre on christmas day and although the service was awful the food was not too bad so when we had a phonecall inviting us back for a free meal to try again we agreed. We returned last week and again the food was good. However my biggest gripe is with the management. I feel good management is essential. the management treated us like we were their for a freebie despite the fact that they had invited us back for a complementary meal and we paid for all drinks. We were asked to leave by 8pm at 7.50 as we had kids, yet we were under the impression it was 8.30! We didnt phone to complain about christmas day but i did feel the need to complain about our return visit! I have yet to hear back from them and that was over a week ago!

Went to the byre on friday night and what a fantastic night. Myself and five friends were in the Hunter room(private dining room). Enjoyed a three course meal, absolutely stunning, beautifully cooked, presented and tasted divine. We were attended to all night (without being overly fussy) and nothing was to much of a hassle. We had a fabulous night, and were not rushed at all to leave. We did ask if they needed us to move to the bar but were told to stay as long as we liked. Will definitely be returning and will recommend to all my family and friends.

Went to the byre xmas day and yes it was a shambles.we were in the lower bothy and served by 4 great girls. there was no management to be found but the girls did there best to make it a wonderful day for my wife,2 sons and i. The girls came and double checked our order (we pre ordered before the day) and did there best to bring it 2 us. service was very slow but the food was fantastic and the overall service from the girls was very good.we knew it was there first christmas so expected a few teething problems. for any1 out there who has read the ek news give the byre a chance the staff are amazing and the food was good. i reckon it was management problems and a little over crowding that was to blame. i will most certainly be back.

I am a regular here, as well as other establishments in East Kilbride, and must say that we have had nothing but excellent food in both the Pub part and the Bothy.
We also had a party booked on Christmas day and unfortunately were in what now seems to be the 2nd sitting of the day.
We waited a while for our table, but the staff were excellent in dealing with the situation, although no management were available.
We were seated on the top floor and had an excellent meal once again despite the delay.
A couple of customers in the room weren\'t happy with the delay and proceded to ruin it for the rest of us.
Will definitely return.

being one of the lucky ones to be in the first sitting on xmas day the delay in serving our table was acceptable allowing for it being the first time they had to cope with that many people and having a laid back approach to what was happening our party made the best of it and it must be said that when the head office were made aware of the fiasco that occured their handling of the event must be applauded for the swift action taken. as to the food this was superbly cooked and presented by the under pressure staff and we have no qualms in returning today (4th jan) for a meal

I visited The Main Bar area for lunch with a group of 7 friends and there were 2 small children in the group. The food was great and the manner and helpfulness of the waiting staff was excellent. The service was a little bit slow but I don't know whether that was a problem with relaying food orders to the kitchen. I would definitely go back and would like to try The Bothy. What made it for me was when I came to get my car out of the carpark close by it was completely iced up and I couldn't get out. Many thanks to the 3 members of staff who helped dig out the ice, pushed my car and put salt down.Their help was much appreciated and sorry I didn't get your names to say thankyou.

Ate here quite a few weeks ago and was totally not impressed...staff didn't seem to apear what they were doing, had steak pie (or what was meant to be steak pie) and it was awful.
Complained to the waitress about the meal and all she did was apologise and take my plate away whilst my mum was still eating.
Paid full price so basically paid for a meal that wasn't eaten.
Complained via telephone and was told someone would call me back...still waiting and that was about three weeks ago.
The place is a shambles and so are the staff!

Went to the Byre today (friday 28th)for lunch. The place was really very busy and from what i could see there was only 4 members of staff serving in the upper inn. Thank Goodness we were not in a hurry. Waited longer than usual to get served as the poor girl on the bar tried to make coffees get drinks and take payments on her own. The staff were very polite and friendly and kept us informed of how long our food would be. I didn't mind as i could see the place was understaffed. Well done to the four girls whos faces were never without a smile. The food was fantastic which made up for the wait. I would recommend the lasagne and the classic platter!!!!!

Went to the Inn at the byre for dinner with friends when it first opened. I wasn't that impressed. I thought the portions were a little small for the price i was paying, the burgers were still raw in the middle and the fish was just too greasy. On a more positive note, the staff were very friendly and attentive. When i complained about the burger i received a very delicious, well cooked burger almost immediately. Have eaten there since and can honestly say i have noticed a huge improvement in service. Unfortunately the portions still seem a little small, if you want chips with your meal order a side portion too!!!

I have now eaten four times in the bar area, and it has been very disappointing. The food is ok but not on par with other locations in the city. Its often cold and greasy especially the beautiful fish - ruined. I also object to paying for food before you taste it. I needed a drink during my main course and asked the waitress and she informed me I had to go to bar myself, thus leaving my food to go cold. The staff are awful behind the bar, with a manager standing around watching all the chaos. I notice every time I go, people complaining and sending food back. This could be a very successful business but things need to change. Ok venue for a drink when you eventually get served but poor food.

Haven't written a review before but am a regular at this company's restaurants in Glasgow and enjoy those that we regularly eat in. However, The Inn at the Byre lets the side down somewhat. Although the food was up to the usual good standard we expect and great value, the service was indifferent and inattentive. The staff here seemed to be there for their own enjoyment rather than the customers needs and let the place dwn.
I think this place has excellent potential as the food was great, but please look after the customers needs a bit more!

I have eaten in both the Inn and on saturday night, The Bothy.
i think this is a breath of fresh air that we need in this area and despite one or two niggly points thought the food in the Inn was fantastic and great value, although staff seemed ill prepared for how busy it was and we sat with our finished starters in front of us for 20 minutes.
However, the main course made up for this and was delicious!(if anyone from the company who owns The Byre read this-music was far too noisy at night while we were eating).
We ate in The Bothy on Saturday and the food was excellent, the restaurant beautifully decorated and the prices reasonable.
Will definately be back and will recommend to all our friends & family.

Went first week opened, waited quite while for food and desserts were brought before mains. Went again for lunch and food was lovely and service is good. Not too sure about layout of restaurant upstairs, very noisy so difficult to hold conversation. The more 'elite' Bothy restaurant downstairs looks a bit stuffy to me, and quite pricy. Went here last week. Was the first week it opened and it looks as if it has potential.
In the Byre the food was good at reasonable prices, and its big enough that its busy but retains a nice atmosphere.
I didn't realise, but there are two restaurants at the byre - the byre itself and 'The Bothy', which caters to those looking for a more unique meal, where the staff all wear kilts and the meals are more designer-ish. Will try out the Bothy soon.
